About Kászonszék ecovillage

         The initiative was launched in response to the "unsustainable" nature of contemporary society, while also recognising the sustainable values present in Kászon. The aim is to develop a sustainable region that can serve to ensure the long term survival of its settlers. Based on to the local traditions and in cooperation with the urban youth there are several programmes and they are fulfilled step by step in order to meet real needs and open opportunities. Each participant who joins enriches the prospects for success.

         There are three pillars: hundreds of years wisdom of the folk traditions, the invaluable regenerating capacity of nature and the efforts of the community. These are to be united in the framework of the Kászonszék Ecovillage initiative.
Kászonszék Ecovillage wishes to continue practising Hungarian traditions, combined with ecological requirements. We would like to build a model which is based on the local characteristics, which complies with the spiritual values of the inhabitants in the region, and which is in harmony with their lifestyle. This model is intended as a point of departure to help other villages in their initiatives to create self-sustaining settlements. The existing ecovillages in the world are important models for us, although we do not want to copy them. We are open to cooperation with ecovillages carrying out similar efforts.
